<<P.S. not included in here elsewhere, Neal caught fire and had two goals in the last few games of the Fall 06 season, and Vitaley lit the lamp once himself...>>

As far as I know, we will sign up as a team for the Winter 07 season. You'll probably send in your own form, but write a check to me (not the cube). I will confirm at our playoff game (vs. the Blackbears) on Friday.

Results for the Nov 3 game vs. Mott: Goal by Neal, assist to AJ and Dustin. No penalties.

Pictures will be posted some time this week.

Jennie will be your Shepherd for the game on the 10th. Maroon is winless this season, so I expect another 2 points when I get back!

The new jerseys are here! The new jerseys are here!

Chuck scored both goals for us in Game 1. No penalties for this game; we'll have to try harder. (Maybe the Refs felt bad for us with only 3 on the bench...).

If you're looking for a place to practice your skills, here are two sessions at Yost ice arena in Ann Arbor. The Knuble/Ellsworth clinic is a good one; I haven't tried the Roberts clinic yet, but will probably be there on Monday the 18th.

I've been hearing a lot about the new USA Hockey enforcement rules for the fall. Basically, if you use your stick to play anything but the puck, you will get called for a penalty. Be sure to check out the rules and video posted at http://www.usahockey.com/usa_hockey/usahweb/main/usa_hockey/front_newdeal_071206/ to see what's going on.

We are going to go a bit out of order here while we catch up:

Stats for the Maroon game #5 on Cinco de Mayo (May 5th):

Goals as recorded by the officials:
#1: Megan with an Assist from Ann-Marie

#3: Joey with an Assist from Jeff
#4: Adam with an Assist from Megan

Penalties as recorded by the officials:
#1: Dustin- tripping--Opps
#2: AJ - tripping -- Another Opps

Most important stat: Shawn's wife did NOT go into labor in the stands during the game! (Whew!) She did, however, video tape some of the game... : )

Stats for the Maroon game # 4 on 4/28:

Goals as recorded by the officials:
Um, none.

Penalties as recorded by the officials:
AJ - slashing -- Opps.

The good part about this game: U of M Mott didn't get any goals in the 3rd period. Great D, guys!

Maroon Game # 6 will be Friday, May 12th at 9:30pm on Stadium Ice against Green. We are playing on the 'pretty' rink gang so make sure those jerseys are clean : )

I'll send out an update with a line-up on Friday. Have a great week, folks!

Gwyn the Goalie

The Leader Board is finally updated. We are missing two games -- Jan 27 and Feb 3 -- in the stats. I will get copies of those two game sheets and get things updated after our playoff game tomorrow night.

Final on Friday was 12-2. Goals by Vitaly (assist Ken?), and Ken (not sure about assists). No penalties. There is a correction - Ken has only one penalty this season, and Chip has one. We will be missing Chip this weekend.

I'm still working on getting final pricing for Sheep jerseys. Perani's doesn't move very fast this time of year, I guess. They should be under $25 each. I'll query for sizes and numbers in a few days.

Game 1 was a 6-0 loss to Orange. Our only notable stat was Chip's 3 minute penalty. Matt Erickson did a good job in goal for us; thanks Matt! Game 2 is Friday the 13th at 10:15pm.

We are down two Greyers for the first game. Jennie Dalton is on IR for a week with an "upper body injury". Gwyn is out to attend to personal matters. On the positive side, We did pick up Lisa Tubbs to the team - welcome Lisa! Jennie reports that she will be at the cube before the game to help with the getting-gear-on phase, and she may stick around and do some coaching from the bench. (It's easier to skate 2-minute shifts with someone on the bench hollering at you...)

So far I've recieved responses from free agents Jim G, Chuck S, and Tony W, who are looking forward to our first game. We will also use a goalie from the sub list for game 1 -- his name is (appropriately) Matt. No apparent relation to Ranville or Pickus.

Be sure you bring a print-out of your USA Hockey Registration to the game on Friday. You can get a copy here.

I am 90% sure we will have a team this winter. I am making a few final arrangements with the Cube, and should be sending out a "go ahead" mail to the team later today.

Susan S has been upgraded from Sub to Forward, and Gywn F is now our official goalie tender for the season. Unfortunately, Gywn is going to be out of town for our first game, so we will need a sub goalie -- if you know of any potential volunteers, get on their cases now.

We still need 2-3 more full time skaters. Recruit hard and see if you can find anyone else; otherwise we will hit the free agents or just skate short handed.

Flock,

Here's where we stand for a team this winter:
Ken Christensen -- D
AJ Katharopoulos -- D
Jennie Dalton -- F
Joe Gregoria -- F
Janette Gryniewicz -- F/D
Chip Smith -- F/D
Megan Torrance -- F/D

Gwyn Fisher -- G
John Heins -- G

Chet Baldwin -- SUB
Tom Macek -- SUB
Marty McLaughlin -- SUB
Zach Michels -- SUB
Matt Pickus -- SUB
Matt Ranville -- SUB
Susan Sutherland -- SUB

The goalie situation is changing by the minute, but it looks like we will be covered there. We are still about 3 full-time skaters short. I am still asking around for volunteers, and we may need to pick up a few free agents from the cube list. I'm 90% sure we will be able to pull this off.

For those of you who are playing, you will need to sign up with USA Hockey. They provide insurance to both you and the Ann Arbor Ice Cube. It is $30 for a year's worth of insurance. You sign up at http://www.usahockeyregistration.com/. Wait until I give you the final "go" before signing up...

Also, you may need to print out, fill out, and fax a form to the Cube to sign up. I'm checking on that right now, and should have an answer by tomorrow.

Baa,
-Your Humble Shepherd

Time to start thinking about getting the flock on the ice again. An email will come around soon. We're hoping to get a team (minimum of 6F, 4D, and 1G) to play in a cube Never Ever league starting in January. You can check out the cube's web site (www.a2ice3.com) to see their schedule -- right now it's mostly friday night games.
